Another year, another Crisis

Another week, another “crisis” over at the DC Universe.  This time it’s called “Final Crisis”, as opposed to Crisis On Infinte Earths, Zero Hour, and Infinite Crisis (oh, and let’s not forget the Countdown to Infinite Crisis and Countdown to Final Crisis).  This is IT, promises DC.  Everything changes!  Hoo-hah, you won’t believe your eyes! The video is a FAKE!

From the Bad Astronomy Blog: “Jeff Peckman stood before the citizens of Denver and showed the video. What it had on it we don’t know, because he would only allow certain members of the press to see it, and no video of his video was allowed to be taken. Evidently, Peckman is part of the Bush Administration. Read More »

Sci Fi Radio, BattleStar, Granitecon and A Woman Named Shawnti

So, here’s what’s been going on in the world of SciFiCo. We are currently in negotiations with a local AM station in Nashua, NH to air our radio show. While their terrestrial broadcast footprint is small, they stream, which would give us some national visibility. As a result of the delicate nature of these negotiations, I am loathe to say much more but if all goes well there will be a MAJOR announcement within the next 2 weeks. Read More »

And Now For Something Completely Different, A Comments Section that Actually Works

For the past months, since the reorganization of SCIFICO and the major redo of the online segment of our megacorperation, one of the things missing from the site has been the ability for you, the reader,to comment, without sending me an email, and may I say, it has been cumbersome for me to constantly delete your emails without reading them. I am told this was to save me the personal embarrassment of having our dear readers tell me what an ass I am, how much I suck, or how my opinions are crap. Be that as it may, I have constantly been hounding Kriana to open the comment sections up and as of today it is live, with some very soft guidelines:
1. I know I am a jerk, so no real need to restate that. Feel free to give your opinion but remember this is a PG-13 site
2. You must be a registered user to comment. This is a very quick process. We will not sell, barter, trade or give away your email address to anyone for any reason under any circumstances.
3. Remember, this is your feedback, so feel free to complement me as often as you wish to. No need to just do it once.
I hope this will enhance the site and give you, the reader a better venue to interact with us here at SCIFICO.

This is Dome, saying…..be kind, rewind.

GRANITECON, formerly known as The Granite State Comicon is this Sunday, May 18th., from 10AM to 4PM at the Radission Manchester In New Hampster, the state which is also home base for our humble MegaCorperation,SCIFICO.   http://www.dmcomics.com/site2/granitecon.html     Our friends at Double Midnight Comics are once again hosting the event, Chris and Scott (otherwise known as Chris’ brother), Brett and Patrick are the backbone of this twice yearly event. This year’s guests include Scott Wegener {Atomic Robo}, Ethan Van Sciver(DC’s Green Lantern), Joe Hill, Scott Kolins(Marvel, Valliant and a ton of his own stuff), and the amazing Khio Phan(Marvel Artist). This is a DON’T MISS con. If you see us there, say hey!

SCUD, Conan & Skrulls

It’s been a week now, and everyone’s still buzzing about how great Iron Man: The Movie was.  Not only that, but the previews for the new Batman, Hulk & Hellboy flicks look amazingly good, making me thank God for the umpteenth time that I lived long enough to see great special effects and supervillains in movies.  For those of you who didn’t grow up in the schlocky 70’s, I need only warn you of SpiderMan: The Deadly Dust.  ’nuff said. Ironman, the Avengers and Radio

While I am still sitting on pins and needles waiting to find out if we are finally going to be picked up and back on the air( COME ON GUYS, GET OFF YOUR BUTTS AND JUST TELL US WE ARE THE BEST THING YOU EVER HEARD!), a lot of time has once again drifted by without a post and many many things have happened.

Let’s begin with Jenna Jameson’s newest film Zombie Strippers. God, I wish this was a bad joke, and while it is it is for real, Jameson on the stripper pole, quoting Nietzsche as her flesh falls off. Zombie films at their finest!

X, I dare you to give this fine film a bad review!

Speaking of bad reviews. IRONMAN is amazing. Read More »

The Colleen Doran incident

I spent last weekend getting folded, spindled and mutilated along with 64,000 others at the 2008 New York Comic Con.  Had a great time!  Handed out over a thousand flyers for Skullduggery (see www.witchesvsvampires.com); ran into several college classmates and even got to play autograph-whore with the likes of Neal Adams, Tom Yeates, Joe Staton etc.  Oh, and before I forget, you MUST pick up a copy of UVC Magazine — the magazine for urban black comics readers.  Great articles, especially the ones written by my wife, Traci.  Ain’t nepotism grand?

The most important meeting I had, though, was with comics legend Colleen Doran.  This wasn’t fanboy-gushing or another notch in the autograph collection; this was personal.   Let me explain: Read More »
