The Colleen Doran incident

I spent last weekend getting folded, spindled and mutilated along with 64,000 others at the 2008 New York Comic Con.  Had a great time!  Handed out over a thousand flyers for Skullduggery (see www.witchesvsvampires.com); ran into several college classmates and even got to play autograph-whore with the likes of Neal Adams, Tom Yeates, Joe Staton […]

New York Comic Con

The reason I haven’t written in a while is because I’ve been spending my time getting ready to blitz the upcoming New York Comic Con with promos for my animated project SKULLDUGGERY.  I’ve put a lot of time and effort into this cartoon series (which you can check out at www.witchesvsvampires.com), and hope to show […]

Why Women hate Sarah Conner – The State of Women in Science Fiction Today

So, the other night I am watching the exciting 2 hour finale of the shortened season of Sarah Conner Chronicles (I am deeply disappointed by their idea of climax), when my wife turns to me and sez….”you know, I don’t much care for this show. It’s too noisy.” OK, she was tired and when I […]

Comic Convention season begins!

So, it’s March. And with the sun shining and the snow melting, one’s thoughts turn inevitably towards… convention season. Yes, we’re coming up on that time where at some point, you will be within driving distance of an immense gathering of comics, toys, industry professionals, and the occasional Stormtrooper unit. It’s one of the great […]

Glamourpuss targets an audience of zero

My local comic store owner was kind enough to lend me his dealer’s copy of the upcoming Glamourpuss #1, the latest release from the fertile imagination of Dave Sim. Gotta tellya folks, this is exactly what he warned us he’d be doing —- amazing drawings of women alongside whatever stream-of-consciousness happened to pop up in […]

Mod madness! JFK-a-Go-Go!!

Hey hey!  Illustrator X here with news of the best single issue to come out in 2008!  Yeah yeah; it’s only been a few weeks, but I doubt there’ll be anything to top this.  I refer to the Teen Titans “Lost Annual” — the best superhero story I have read in ages.  This is one of […]

Meet the new boss… same as the old boss…

One thing I’ve noticed about comics is that they keep modernizing characters so that they’ll appeal to current readers. DC revamped their entire universe of stories back in the 1980s’s, and have made a fine tradition of it ever since. Hell, right now they’re so magnanimous they’re saying that there are officially 52 “universes”, although […]

Who are New Hampshire’s heroes?

In case you didn’t know, SciFiCo is proudly located in the first-primary-in-the-nation Granite State itself, New Hampshire.  Kudos and accolades to you, you think, but wait — did you know that we have our very own superhero team?  That’s right!  See, when Marvel wrapped up its “Civil War” last year, it was decided that every […]

First post of 2008

Welcome to the first post of 2008, the year in which, if we can believe the hype, “everything changes”! At least, that’s what Marvel and DC are hyping, but so what? Marvel just decided to erase two decades of continuity by having the Devil change history so that Peter Parker and Mary Jane never got married. That means, every single Spider-Man comic you bought over the last two decades — TWENTY YEARS WORTH OF COMICS — never happened. So sorry. Please throw them all away.

Yeah, It’s a new year ……. So What !?!

OK, so I was talking to the other members here at Scifico and “we” decided I needed to be nicer. My posts need to be more positive of the genre.  After my little talking to, I decided, CRAP ON THAT! What we need is a person who will continue to have his voice heard unfiltered, […]
