New York Comic Con

The reason I haven’t written in a while is because I’ve been spending my time getting ready to blitz the upcoming New York Comic Con with promos for my animated project SKULLDUGGERY.  I’ve put a lot of time and effort into this cartoon series (which you can check out at www.witchesvsvampires.com), and hope to show certain producers there that SKULLDUGGERY is a fun, exciting series that would be a great addition to a network’s animation lineup.  I may even mention it once or twice in this blog… but then, that would be a conflict of interests.  Forget I said anything, okay?  Otherwise Dome will send the lawyers after me, and I’ll have to tell you all that he likes to watch dvds of ALF alone in the dark, with only a jar of Vaseline and a Stella d’Oro breadstick for company.  ‘Nuff said.

That said, I am going crazy as I see the ever-expanding guest list and realize that it may not be possible to hand out flyers, discuss product marketing scenarios with execs AND wait three hours in line to get Neal Adams’ autograph.  Sacrifices will be made, but I look at NYCC’s website and I realize just how enormous some of these cons have gotten.  Yes, I know; it’s obvious that this country mouse ain’t never been to the sprawling San Diego con.  Still, I don’t think I ever will!  My kind of con is something small & simple like the Small Press Expo or MoCCA.  I like a convention where you can actually take the time to talk with the artists, without having to wait in line for hours or worry about the 1200 people queueing behind you.  I like being able to walk from the floor to the bar in less than five minutes, be able to find a seat, and down shots with my favorite creators.  I like cons that are all about COMICS, not promo puff parties for Hollywood movies that you were going to go see anyway.  I’m still looking forward to NYCC; I mean, WOOO!  BIG COMIC BOOK SHOW!! — but give me a minute, will you?  I just want to tell Joe Staton how much I loved his run on Plastic Man.

See you at the show!
