TalkCast 296 – Cristina Macia

cmaciaIn a special half hour, Sir Sarah, Kriana and Dome talk with Cristina Macia , one of the driving forces behind ‘Spanish Women of Wonder’, an anthology of 11 stories, and as the title implies, of Science Fiction written by women. We were first made aware of this anthology when they ran a successful KickStarter to fund the translation to English, allowing us all to get to know and appreciate 11 writers never before translated to English. We discuss the unique situation of women Sci Fi authors outside of the English speaking countries and how their unique global voices need to be heard. Hopefully, ‘Spanish Women Of Wonder’ is the first of many such projects for Christina and her team. Please listen and enjoy.

Keeping it Ghastly: Searching for Japanese Horror in America

“Keeping It Ghastly” is a bi weekly article on Japanese horror comics which have English print editions. Some are from famous authors, others are from unknowns and underground artist circles. Either way, it’s going to be to a terrifying/awesome ride to keep horror manga on our bookshelves!

So desirable that her flirtation can drive even the most vehement Men’s Rights Activist to drop his plans to shoot up the local sorority in order to instead turn against his fellow MRAs who want the ultimate prize, Tomie, all to themselves. But as all Men’s Rights Activists know, killing one bitch isn’t enough. Better to kill her again and again and again. If you can’t own her, you can at least own her death. Read More »

GBPD

Tonight’s guest is Glenn Given from Games by Play Date. From their Facebook page:

Games by Play Date is a Manchester, NH centered game design company. Our aim is to produce board games and card games with companion mobile device implementations through rapid prototyping and an open source development model. Our design documents are open to the public and the audience is encouraged to communicate their ideas, concerns and criticisms to us.
