Revisionist History in Movies or…..

2010 is destined to become The Year of the Remake. Having just written that sentence, my mind vomits at the thought that this coming year will serve up MORE remakes than last year and yet, the proof is in the trailers.

Green Hornet: Sorry folks, as good as this might possibly be, the ghost of Bruce Lee haunts every incarnation since his death. PREDICTION: retro pulp

Tron: James Cameron waited almost 20 years for the technology to come into place before attempting Avatar. The sad reality is , for all of its high tech concept, that’s all Tron ever was and in this day and age, the audience expects more. PREDICTION: The first one was better and that one wasn’t all that good.

Red Dawn: In 1984, the specter of invasion and hostile takeovers was churned by this movie, not Enron and Derivative Funds Ponzi Schemes. One can honestly ask, what the hell is the point of remaking this move? The answer might well be, all you have to do is look at The Day the Earth Stood Still remake. That remake was horrific and this one has no real chance of anything better. PREDICTION: The Chinese already own our economy, the movie is moot.

Predators: This is the movie with Arnold vs. The Alien Hunter. As usual Arnold wins. This remake has some good things going for it. Among the best is Robert Rodriguez. Planet Terror gives me slight hope for this one. PREDICTION: It could be fun.

Iron Man 2: HELL YES! ‘NUFF SAID!

The Wolfman: This is another movie with promise. Benicio Del Toro is awesome and can defiantly pull this role off. Its working towards an R Rating, which is a good thing. PREDICTION: Possibly something to watch for.

This is Dome sayin: Damn Your Eyes, Bollywood! Do something original or the terrorists have already won.
