My Last Post For A While and BattleStar, The Big Finish

Second things first. I have resisted writing about the ending of BattleStar Galactica for a variety of reasons; first and foremost, I have viewed it 3 times now, and finally feel ready to give it some justice. So, here goes. It has been a good long time since any series had been so well planned out that the ending really does an amazing job of tying up every loose end and plot thread. If we forget the visually stunning cinematography, the sweet soundtrack and the acting that has become a hallmark of television programs, you are left with a script that follows the Show Bible to its precise conclusion. With all the cliffhangers they could have left, the producers and writers chose instead to give the audience what we deserved. Closure. Think of it this way, yes they have a prequel series in the works but its ties to this plotline are tenuous at best, and that’s the way it should be. Job well done. Time to move on.

I shall be leaving Sci-Fi Saturday Night for a month or so, to recuperate from some medical issues. I beg the indulgence of my readers and hope K and X and pick up some of the slack while I am gone. In the early 90’s, I had the good fortune to interview Betty Hill ( and if you don’t know who she is, look it up) The last words she spoke to me , and it was the last known interview before her death, are the words I leave you with:
This is Dome sayin’,        look to the skies

We always look to the skies, my friend; but we will miss your commentary while doing so. I’ll be happy to pick up the slack as it were — you just take care of yourself and leave the writing to myself & K for a while. Excelsior!
