DVR’s-R-Us and The New Way of Viewing….Oh, and ST-TNG Reunion (of sorts)

It used to be that you watched a show. You sat down when it was on and FRICKIN WATCHED IT. Well, those days are long gone, so when Nielson Ratings come back, YOU KNEW who watched, the demographic breakdown and just where in the grand scheme of things you sat in relation to any other show. Technology changed all that, beginning with the home video recorder which began the time-shifting revolution, and then it went digital allowing DVR’s to store infinite programs for later viewing. So, when the original numbers for Sarah Conner and Dollhouse, after they moved to Friday night were less than stellar, no one was surprised, until the DVR data was factored in and Dollhouse numbers rise by 30% and more amazingly Sarah Connor rose by 36%! So what does this mean? When the Fox coneheads Executives look at real viewership these are 2 hot shows they have on their hands. What’s more, Friday is no longer a Dead Zone and quality programming will continue to win out, thanks to technology.

In other nudes, Family Guy will host an animated Star Trek TNG reunion featuring the voices of Patrick Stewart, Levar Burton, Gates McFadden(a personal favorite of mine), Michael Dorn, Brent Spiner, Jonathan Frakes, Wil Wheaton, Denise Crosby and Marina Sirtis. The story takes place at the Vegas Convention (another of my favorites).

This is Dome wondering why my VCR still blinks 12:00
