Science Fiction-Science Fact: DARPA

For those of you unfamilliar with the acronym, it is Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency. In the grand tradition of The Men Who Stare at Goats, this place can come up with some interesting stuff, and by interesting I mean weird. If you thought Terminator was the future of robotics…think again. Chembot is a gelatinous robot (YES I AM FREAKIN SERIOUS, RUN FOR YOUR LIVES NOW!!!) Read More »

Trivia Prize for 10/17/09!

Well we didn’t have a winner of Comfan Comic’s Weird Science #1 reprint. So this week you’ll have a chance to win it again, along with this week’s prize! Speaking of, this week’s prize is a gorgeous print of Captain Nemo in the year 2025 by our good friend Peter Vinton Jr. (pictured below after the jump – it’s actually bigger, it wouldn’t all fit on Dome’s scanner!) Remember in order to win, listen in TONIGHT (10/17) at 8PM for the trivia question. Then just tweet @sfsn with the answer! The first person who correctly answers the trivia question (who hasn’t won before) wins not only this fabulous print, but the previous unclaimed prize: Weird Science #1 (reprint).

Preview of TalkCast for 10/17/09

As there was no winner for our last  Trivia Question, this weeks prize will be bundled with the Wierd Sciece #1 reprint.

Illustrator X is attending The Hack and Gore Exrtavaganza this weekend in Worcester, Ma. His presence will be missed, in a pool of blood. I will be gushing about my latest guilty pleasure comic, and the rest of Our Merry Band of Aliens will join Us in our studio in Area 51.

This is Dome sayin: Hey Balloon Boy! You’re all over Faux Newz.

Thanks Jay. While NBC Tanks, Perhaps Chuck Will Get Back Sooner!

According to a number of blogs and media writers, NBC is in free fall and grasping at straws for ways to fix their ratings. Let’s face it, the debacle that is the Jay Leno Show and its ramifications has cost the network millions. At least that’s the whining being heard virtually everywhere, and it’s a lie. The real fact is that with the various media outlets available, viewership of the 3 ½ major networks has plummeted.  Furthermore, when it comes to Sci Fi programming, there is so much available that total viewership for any one segment has gone down, but that may not be necessarily so. NBC has problems with Heroes, which has bottomed out, ratingswise., but there is nothing worthwhile to replace it with. Read More »

No Podcast This Saturday

Due to circumstances beyond our control, there will be no podcast this week. We promise to be back better than ever next week with more exciting news!

Talkcast #1: Tweet to WIN

Saturday was the first in our live recorded web episodes of Sci-Fi Saturday Night. Due to the live nature of these recordings I’m dubbing them “talkcast” rather than “podcast”. From here on in “podcast” will refer to something that we’ve taped without streaming, a back issue of Sci-Fi Saturday Night if you will.

In this episode our sponsor was Comfan Comics based in Malden, MA. They donated a reprint of Weird Science #1 for us to give away, but sadly, we had no winner. But don’t worry, you’ll have another opportunity to win this amazing prize! We also spoke with Pam and Mary of the The New England Fan Experience.

Our First Podcast in Our NEW “NOT A STUDIO”!

See the side balloons to listen to us live and/or to catch us at a later time

The fun begins at 8:00pm est!

Tune in Tomorrow Night to WIN!

You may have been wondering what the aforementioned FABULOUS prizes might be. Well wonder no more. Tomorrow night you have the chance to win:
