Movies I Wish You Had Seen – Looker

Looker 1981

Long before The Matrix, long before Avatar, a not-very-classic movie was made. It’s about a plastic surgeon  who touches up models searching for perfection, only to have them show up dead and yet somehow digitally imaged and still alive in the media. In 1981, the effects weren’t great, but being writing and direction by a young Michael Crichton (Jurassic Park, Twister, Runaways) was the push the studio needed to greenlight this film.  Even then, as a new author, Crichton held enough sway to put this on the screen. Talkcast 133 – Mike Dougherty

Tonight’s guest is Mike Dougherty, director of the Firefly/Serenity fan film Browncoats: Redemption. He gave us the inside scoop on his newest project, Z-Con. This new film is an original story about a podcast that becomes the only link to the outside world for a convention overrun by zombies. In three weeks (or so) a Kickstarter campaign will begin to fund the production. Like Browncoats:Redemption, all of the proceeds from Z-Con will go to charity, so the more funding it receives, the more  they can do to ensure large donations. To learn more about Z-Con, visit their website and their Facebook page.
