Let&#8217;s be surprised and\/or disappointed by the genre shows the Big 5 (seriously, 5?) Networks have to offer us for the upcoming Fall Season. As Doctor Who, Torchwood and True Blood come to their seasons&#8217; amazing conclusions, lets take a rapid-fire look at what the networks have in store.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Monday<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>FOX \u2013 Terra Nova 8:00pm NEW<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scifisaturdaynight.com\/?attachment_id=4396\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4396\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-4396\" title=\"Terra+Nova+TV+Series\" src=\"http:\/\/www.scifisaturdaynight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Terra+Nova+TV+Series-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Spielberg takes us 85 million years into the past to erase the sins of the future. FOX is banking on this Future\/Past series that infuses itself with many of the basic tropes of a successful Sci Fi Series:\u00a0 Dystopian Future, Overpopulation and Time Travel. The beauty of its success hangs on the writing. Over and over we stress that writing is the difference between trope and tripe and this show has all the earmarks of having a great shot.<\/p>\n<p>Why You Should Watch &#8211; The producers name says it all, Steve has made his bones and on the basis of that alone<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>ABC \u2013 Castle 10pm<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_4472\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scifisaturdaynight.com\/?attachment_id=4472\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4472\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4472\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-4472\" title=\"images\" src=\"http:\/\/www.scifisaturdaynight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/images-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-4472\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Richard Castle<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Mal Reynolds \u2013 Detective. While not genre, who cares? It is Not To Miss Nathan Fillion. A great concept, a stellar cast, clean crisp writing and classic villain of the week writing makes this one of the high-water marks in network TV. If you are a discerning watcher, there are frequently barbed side comments\u00a0 at past roles. This show has subtext and I like it.<\/p>\n<p>Why You Should Watch \u2013 Its consistently smart, well acted and it&#8217;s Capt. Tight Pants. It&#8217;s got laughs and it&#8217;s just good entertainment, something quite rare on the networks.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Tuesday<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CW Ringer 9:00pm NEW<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scifisaturdaynight.com\/?attachment_id=4397\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4397\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-4397\" title=\"sarah-michelle-gellar-ringer\" src=\"http:\/\/www.scifisaturdaynight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/sarah-michelle-gellar-ringer-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Sarah Michelle Gellar\u00a0(SMG) returns to TV without Scooby\u00a0Doo, playing twins in a non-Parent Trap show about an ex-stripper and her &#8220;not dead yet&#8221; twin. A cool cast includes SMG, Ioan\u00a0Gruffudd, Kristoffer\u00a0Polaha\u00a0and Tara Summers. It has a complex plot with SMG working to create disparate twins, and there are some very interesting twists and turns\u00a0in the pilot. If the pilot is any indication of what the season has in store, I&#8217;m watching it. You should give it a try.<\/p>\n<p>Why You Should Watch \u2013 SMG. Simply put, she is a wonderful actress who has been under used for years. JINKIES!<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Wednesday<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Catch up on your Favorite blog, Sci Fi Saturday Night!<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Thursday<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_4462\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scifisaturdaynight.com\/?attachment_id=4462\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4462\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4462\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-4462\" title=\"THE BIG BANG THEORY\" src=\"http:\/\/www.scifisaturdaynight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/THE-BIG-BANG-THEORY-The-Prestidigitation-Approximation-Season-4-Episode-18-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-4462\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Aarti Mann<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>CBS The Big Bang Theory 8:00pm<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Season 5 opens with an awkward explanation of Raj and Penny sleeping together, and the fun continues with our favorite super brained nerds. While we are all confident and comfortable with the basic premise, I find the show interesting because I know these people, I worked with these people. They are just like Sheldon Cooper. I know Howard&#8217;s mother, lets face it, we all do. Nerds with brains are the new cool, and this show is very cool.<\/p>\n<p>Why You Should Watch \u2013 Jim Parsons gets less and less funny but Aarti\u00a0Mann is smokin\u2019. Nice trade off. Nerds rule.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>CW The Vampire Diaries 8:00pm<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Season Three. Never watched it. Evidently, they don\u2019t sparkle. Good for them.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>CBS The Mentalist 10:00pm<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scifisaturdaynight.com\/?attachment_id=4400\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4400\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-4400\" title=\"psych2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.scifisaturdaynight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/psych2-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Wait for Psych to come back on. At least when they&#8217;re funny, it\u2019s intentional.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Why Psych is better than The Mentalist<\/span>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Psych is better written.<\/li>\n<li>Psych doesn&#8217;t take itself seriously.<\/li>\n<li>Psych has a better cast.<\/li>\n<li>Shawn and Gus have a great chemistry.<\/li>\n<li>Simon Baker can&#8217;t skateboard.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>CW The Secret Circle 9:00 NEW<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Think, Sabrina The Teenage Witch without a laugh track. Natasha Henstridge\u00a0is on this show and that means I will watch. CW tries for relevance with a number of new shows and this one may hit the mark. Cassie Blake is the &#8220;normal&#8221; teenager, whatever the hell that is. Mom dies and the orphan is shipped\u00a0off to live with Grams in Washington state. Yes, we have been here before, yes its derivative, yes its angsty\u00a0teens. All that aside, it&#8217;s Thomas Dekker, Britt Robertson and the aforementioned Natasha Henstridge.<\/p>\n<p>Why You Should Watch \u2013 It\u2019s new and it doesn\u2019t have a laugh track. I think it\u2019s most definitely worth a try.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Friday NERD NIGHT!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>CBS A Gifted Man 8:00pm NEW<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A self-involved surgeon sees his dead wife. Think <em>Ghost<\/em>\u00a0without Swayze and Moore and with lots of medical jargon. We have seen this before and watched it fizzle. Perhaps this time thay\u00a0have the mix down correctly and it will be worth watching. I know I am not the most knowledgeable person but I simply don&#8217;t recognize anyone in the cast. The pilot was directed\u00a0by series Executive Producer Jonathan Demme, which says something. I just wish I knew what.<\/p>\n<p>Why You Should Watch &#8211; No clue.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u00a0<em>NBC Chuck 8:00pm<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Yes, it\u2019s the last season, and it\u2019s my guilty pleasure. I wish I could say it\u2019s because of the eye candy but the<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_4467\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scifisaturdaynight.com\/?attachment_id=4467\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4467\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4467\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-4467\" title=\"CHUCK\" src=\"http:\/\/www.scifisaturdaynight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/chuck-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-4467\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chuck<\/p><\/div>\n<p>truth is I just enjoy it. The melding of man and computer is a well-worn trope and they have used it well in this series. The fish out of water medallion has been passed\u00a0around the cast so well that almost everyone has worn it atone time or another. It may not be\u00a0as well written as some would like but thats\u00a0too bad. Smallville was on for far too long. This is Chuck&#8217;s last season. Sci Fi Spy Fi Fun.<\/p>\n<p>Why You Should Watch \u2013 Adam Baldwin is just too damn good.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scifisaturdaynight.com\/?attachment_id=4401\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4401\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-4401\" title=\"wolverine-nov27-maggie-q-silver-fox-preview\" src=\"http:\/\/www.scifisaturdaynight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/wolverine-nov27-maggie-q-silver-fox-preview-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>CW Nikita 8:00pm<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Here is your eye candy show of the season. Returning for Season Two, Maggie Q makes this a great hour to watch. It\u2019s not deep and there is nothing wrong with that. The premise has been worked over 3 movies and this second TV series. Maggie is what makes it work this time around. Without her , there is simply no real reason to watch.<\/p>\n<p>Why You Should Watch \u2013 Because it\u2019s fun.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>NBC Grimm 9:00pm NEW<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Who are the Grimms? What secret does this clan of hunters have? Do mythical villains masquerade in our modern world? Is this concept too high or is this going to become casualty of its timeslot. I hope not.<\/p>\n<p>Why You Should Watch \u2013 Writer\/Producer David Greenwalt\u00a0(BTVS).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scifisaturdaynight.com\/?attachment_id=4403\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4403\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-4403\" title=\"fringe-06\" src=\"http:\/\/www.scifisaturdaynight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/fringe-06-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Fringe 9:00pm<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>So, is Peter alive or gone? How will Water and Walternate\u00a0co-exist in a single unified universe? I care. This is one of the most finely-tuned, well-scripted genre shows on television. The actors are simply amazing, most doing double duty as slightly different characters in parallel universes. Now that the realities have melded, what can they do? What ever it is, I am there.<\/p>\n<p>Why You Should Watch \u2013 Seriously?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>CW Supernatural 9:00pm<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Somebody told me this is a good show. Its competition is going to make sure I never see it, and I am told that is a shame. I guess I will never know.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Saturday<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>I am told\u00a0there are many fine Microbreweries\u00a0 that need your patronage.
