In a mostly underwhelming summer of film, pockmarked with the occasional Inception<\/em> and Strutting Leo Internet Meme, there are two blips on the radar that should be of interest to the Sci-Fi and Fantasy community.<\/p>\n

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter<\/span><\/strong>\"\"<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Book optioned by Tim Burton (Nightmare Before Christmas<\/em>, Corpse Bride<\/em>) and Timur Bekmambetov (Night Watch<\/em>).\u00a0 Pre-production has begun with Burton producing and Bekmambetov directing. For those unfamiliar, Abe\u2019s mom is killed by vampires and the Civil War is a thinly disguised vampire hunt.<\/p>\n

Snow White and the Huntsman<\/span><\/strong>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

This reimagining written by Evan Daughetry and produced by Joe Roth (Alice in Wonderland<\/em>). Currently attached to direct is Rupert Sanders (The Hunger Games<\/em>) This version, one of four currently in pre-production,\u00a0 is not<\/span> to be confused with the Disney reboot. Entitled Snow White and the 7<\/em>,\u00a0 the Fair Maiden is within the world of The Shaolin Monks, who train the hapless heroine to fight evil.<\/p>\n
