This is a theory in large part because no one has ever seen a diamond grow…………….until now.

This season the viewing public has been afforded the ability to glimpse into how a diamond is formed, using just the correct amounts writing, acting, filmograpghy, editing, music and network nurturing. This has been an especially bad year for network nurturing, what with the writers’ strike, the ratings plummet and the panic to reinvent themselves. Eli Stone has been one of the anomalies. Johnny Lee Miller, Natasha Henstridge, Julie Gonzalo and Sam Jeager are fantastic. But I must confess, the character I have come to love is Victor Garber (remember him from Alias). Starting out as the proverbial hardass, he has become both endearing and enjoyable. In the episode last night the viewer ended up rooting for him, which meant you were actually rooting for an earthquake to destroy the Golden Gate Bridge and when it did, I smiled like a loon. The finale is next week. I honestly am at a loss to know what to expect and it has been a very long time since a TV show has done that to me.

The second has been BattleStar Galactica. I have purposely waited till the second episode to even dare to write anything about it because, in large part, I am totally emotionally invested in it. Also, knowing this is the last season and hoping that there will be a cleanup of many if not all the loose ends has made me jittery about it.

W ho is the last Cylon? The money is on Starbuck, which is why I am almost sure it isn’t. The “Brides of Baltar” are nauseatingly appealing. The Cylon inner revolt is a captivating look at a society on the verge of madness. Why does Adama let Starbuck free and give her a ship? Why does Lee once again abandon what he does best, and in the process abandon his sham-wife? Why are Adama and Roz fighting like an married couple, when they know she doesn’t have long to live and they both want to find earth? The theory is that in 24 episoides they can do all this and more and here I wait, with breathless anticipation, contemplating the Theory of Diamonds.

Share this:

The Theory Of Diamonds suggests that carbon, under enough pressure, given enough time, will produce a gem of significant worth and beauty.
