Yael Goldstein Love

Yael Goldstein Love is  an editor and co-founder of Plympton, a literary studio that uses electronic distribution for both new and established writers of serial novels. As a writer, her first book, “The Passion of Tasha Darsky” (2007), garnered wonderful reviews with the New York Times saying that her work showed “signs of brooding genius”.  She has also taught fiction writing at Grub Street, Boston’s center for creative writing, and served as publishing assistant at The Paris Review.

We also discussed In Sickness: Stories from a Very Dark Place, the book he wrote with his wife, Laura. Soares is a member of the New England Horror Writers, and is a contributor to Cinemaknifefight.com.

“Beyond The Fog” by LL Soares




Due to technical difficulties, last week’s Fiction Friday has become this week’s Fiction Monday. Enjoy!

L.L. Soares is a man with a mission: to bring reality to horror fiction. A prolific writer within the genre, his work has been published in many anthologies and websites for the past 12 years. He co-wrote In Sickness: Stories from a Very Dark Place with his wife, Laura Cooney. His newest novel, Life Rage is being published this month and he will be joining us on the podcast to talk about it.

In this short story submission we follow some men out for a night to celebrate the finality of a long and messy divorce. We learn about the secrets of a long abandoned public airstrip. We learn about the horror of unknown singing. We learn what lies Beyond The Fog:

When I finally figured out where the singing was coming from, we were at the top of the hill, looking down at the abandoned airplane hangar.  The hangar had been there for as long as I could remember, but I didn’t know anyone who could remember when it was actually in use.

Maybe back when planes were a brand new thing and you had to turn the propellers with your hands to get the engines started.  Like in the old movies.  Maybe that’s when this place was in use.

Now, it was just deserted property.  Why hadn’t they torn it down and replaced it with something useful?  I’d always thought it was the perfect spot for a baseball diamond. Read More »

This week’s guest is author Joe Tripician, whose books include My Night With Sarah PalinBalkanized at Sunriseand The Official Alien Abductee’s Handbook. Talkcast 149 – Cooper Barnes




Tonight’s guest is Cooper Barnes who once stopped 12 inches short of hitting Emmanuel Lewis with his car , was bitten by a rabid squirrel in 1997 and had to have 15 shots, and has no sense of smell. And he has even more accomplishments! He’s part of the Frog Island sketch comedy troupe and is the host of the web series Cavern of Comics. We also discussed his voiceover role in the upcoming movie Escape from Planet Earth and his texting habits.
